Glomerular basement antibodies are directed against collagen IV and associated with Goodpasture’s disease. Common epitopes are found in the renal and alveolar basement membrane hence causing pulmonary haemorrhage and haemoptysis. Early diagnosis is essential as the the untreated condition can be fatal.
GBM antibodies are associated with Goodpasture’s syndrome.
