Anti-LC-1 antibody has been associated with autoimmune hepatitis type 2 (AIH-2) and targets cytoplasmic antigen known as formiminotransferase Cyclodeaminase. LC-1 titre lacks correlation with the disease activity or treatment.
Confirmation of specificity by other methods such as Western blot is recommended.
Image: On a rodent triple composite tissue, LC-1 only binds to the liver with homogenous cytoplasmic staining with less intensity around the central (juxtavenous hepatocytes). Caution must be exercised as this can be missed by IIF because it often coexists with LKM antibody
